Celine van den Boorn

The work of Celine van den Boorn is about the relationship between nature and culture, human mankind and the way man treats his natural environment. In the work of Van den Boorn nature is organized and mapped. Each image is somewhere between the accidental order in nature and the arrangement of it made by man. Human intervention is suggested, or is immediately visible.

On the one hand human beings have the desire to control nature and to plan its surrounding landscape. On the other hand they desire untouched nature, to be able to unwind and recharge. While our world leaders like to reflect to the greatness of nature themselves, the preservation of this nature is for none of them top priority. This complex relationship of man to nature wrings and fascinating at the same time. With her work Van den Boorn wishes to keep discussion and thought regarding the topic.

Celine van den Boorn (1978) lives and works in Amsterdam. After attending School of Arts in Utrecht, she intensified the themes in her work both artistically as scientifically.
